Another tough month to choose our Athlete of the Month with a few bods on the radar, but we couldn’t be happier with our decision. Our AOTM for August is…RACH!! These past few months she has
absolutely impressed us with her commitment to training, dietary practices and overall lifestyle changes. It’s been almost 3 years to the day since Rach joined the Niche fam and she has ALWAYS kept a smile on her face. Of late she has absolutely endorsed her inner athlete and comes in to get shit done! Love your work Rach!
Why did you start CrossFit?
I was bored with the solitary training of triathlons and the average commercial gym workout regimes, so I started looking for another activity that that had varied and challenging workouts but had to be fun. So with eager anticipation I signed up for a Boot camp at the Cell not knowing what I was getting myself in for. While I was attending my first class there was another class doing a WOD with very high intensity and lots of fun equipment, so I knew I wanted to be a part of that.
What is your most memorable moment to date?
When I first did a toes to bar (ha-ha)
What is your most and least favourite WOD or movement?
I’m enjoying the handstands movements, but am I mad!! , I do like burpees.
My least favourite would have to be the assault bike.
What tip would you give someone just starting in CrossFit?
It is all about technique
What keeps you coming back to CrossFit?
I love the fact that Niche is an encouraging environment, the group training , fantastic support from coaches , and the camaraderie from the peers.
What is one random, non-CrossFit ‘thing’ about yourself?
I have a goal to ride my motorbike around every country in the world.
