He’s the resident Austrian of the Niche fam… friendly, determined and hard working. Never one to miss a chance to throw down, Gerhard just competed in his second local CrossFit comp with the ‘Niche Breakfast Club’. When he’s not in the gym testing his 1RM clean & jerk, you’ll find him at the local barber.. maintaining the freshest of cuts 👌
When did you start at Niche?
In March 2021 shortly after moving from Adelaide to Perth
What were you doing before CrossFit?
I started doing CrossFit in Adelaide and before that I was mostly just doing things like pull-ups and push-ups on my own. Little did I know how much I was missing out.
I loved how welcoming and inclusive everyone was right from the start. It’s also just such a good place to work on your personal goals that can also serve as an outlet and distraction… a place to come for social interaction at the same time.
Favourite movement/workout or CrossFit moment?
That’s a tough one. It’s a race between handstand walking (because ever since I got it, it stays with me) and Clean and Jerk because it’s haunting me in my sleep to get that number up.
One random non CrossFit thing about you?
I can be a little bit impulsive sometimes when it comes to my gut feeling. I once drove 2,700km across the Nullarbor in 36 hours (in January, without AC) after having met someone the day before for only an hour at the airport in Perth. Lucky me, that gut feeling hasn’t let me down yet 😊
A regular early bird with the 5:30am crew and always with a big smile on her face, Jess is an absolute pleasure to coach. Never afraid to give something new a crack, she has come along in leaps...
