Mel is one of our greatest quiet achievers (even this morning we had to kick him up the butt to ring the PB Bell!) I’m sure many of you have noticed the fabulous gains Mel has made since joining us a few months back. He now owns the barbell and we’ve spotted the sly grin of satisfaction when he’s achieved something for the first time. HE IS ALSO ONE OF OUR RESIDENT HANDYMEN after changing our light switch to avoid awkward electrocution claims from our new shower
Why did you start CrossFit?
I was introduced to CrossFit while my brother-in-law David was visiting Perth. David is doing CrossFit in Melbourne and is addicted. CrossFit suits my lifestyle by providing a flexible and value for money fitness workout.
What is your most memorable moment to date?
The most memorable moment to date is participating in the 1st Year Anniversary Niche Challenge event. I did not want to attend, however I was persuaded to attend and glad I did. I thoroughly enjoyed the event due to the support and encouragement throughout the night! It was fun and rewarding!
What is your most and least favourite WOD or movement?
Most favourite WOD – Five rounds for time: 100m run, 10 squats, 5 push-ups, 10 ring dips
Least favourite WOD – Cindy (although after “Fran” this week Mel has decided that any workout named after a lady is terrible…)
What tip would you give someone just starting in CrossFit?
Listen to the coaches, embrace the fitness and have lots of fun! You will be supported by the coaches, encouraged and inspired by your teammates and above all you will transform your life for the better.
What is one random, non-CrossFit interesting ‘thing’ about yourself?
I love chocolate!
“Since starting Niche CrossFit in February this year, Niche has exceeded my expectations. The coaches are professional, passionate and supportive. Team members are friendly and inspiring. Looking forward to the journey and the transformation.”
