Our athlete of the Month for April is….LAUREN!!! Lauren has been with us for many months now, and her commitment to the 5:30am classes each week is absolutely paying off…have you seen her in action lately? #suchagun. Lauren is always one of the first to pick up her pom-poms and support others through workouts and her attitude in the gym is like a little ball of sunshine. She can also draw effing cool stuff. Well done Lauren, completely earned.
PS. We had to assure Lauren this award had absolutely nothing to do with all the yummy treats she keeps feeding us…
Why did you start CrossFit?
I have the attention span of a 5 year old. I found other forms of exercise repetitive and lost interest pretty quickly. CrossFit gives me so many varied workouts and keeps me excited for the next training session!
What is your most memorable moment to date?
Cracking the 100kg deadlift!
What is your most and least favourite WOD or movement?
As cliche as it is, thrusters are terrible. They make my everything hurt.
What tip would you give someone just starting in CrossFit?
Try not to compare yourself to anyone. CrossFit is pretty intense. It’s all about being better than you were yesterday. You’ll surprise yourself and continue to get stronger in your own time. Enjoy the journey!
