She’s been part of the Niche fam for over 18 months now & her contagious laugh is just as infectious as it was on day 1. You always know when KILLA is in the room! Despite some niggles and set backs with a grumpy shoulder the past 6 months Killa has been consistent with training and maintained such a positive attitude. A bundle of energy, a ball of grit & determination she’s is an absolute killer WOD buddy. More about this little super star below.
Why did you start CrossFit?
Donny hassled me about it for a few months and I thought why not give it a crack.
What is your most memorable moment to date?
Ahhhhh Ray’s story time of course….
I think the most memorable and fun moment I’ve had was at the start of the year when we had the in house comp. We had to do a bunch of kipping pull-ups and I had never done them before and Des said to me “you can totally do this.” With her encouragement I managed to smash out 12 kipping pull ups for the first time… it felt pretty rad!
What is your most and least favourite WOD or movement?
I don’t know if I have a least favourite WOD! I try not to think about the WODs to much because I’m always super stoked when I achieve them and how good I feel after I’ve done it.
But my least favourite movement is any thing over head… only because I have a hard time with them because of my shoulder mobility so it’s more out of frustration than not being able to do them. One day I’m going to bloody get it!!!
What tip would you give someone just starting in CrossFit?
Definitely give CrossFit a crack and stick at it! Have fun whether you’re there to become a serious CrossFit athlete, or just there for health and fitness. It’s a great place to get to learn more about yourself mentally, emotionally and physically.
What keeps you coming back to CrossFit?
I keep coming back because I really enjoy rocking up and seeing all the crew at Niche – there are many good eggs…
And it’s also a great place to check out from the stress of work, study and whatever else life has to throw at you.
What is one random, non-CrossFit ‘thing’ about yourself?
On my day off I volunteer my time weeding local bush land to help preserves the native flora and fauna.
Also I’ve been 19 months sober.
