It has barely been one year since Karen first graced us with her presence, and my, what an extraordinary addition to the Niche family she has been! Karen has barely missed an opportunity to throw-down with the 5:30am crew, and as a result of some phenomenal fitness gains, she’s managed to podium finish her first CrossFit competition!

Going forward she’s begun adding Saturday morning’s Comp Squad to her regime in addition to 1-on-1’s with Coach Jamie to fine-tune that technique… needless to say PB’s have since been flooding in thicker and faster than ever. The sky’s the limit for this incredibly inspirational Niche Ninja

Why did you start CrossFit?
After decades of “Going to the Gym” I had lost motivation and felt like I was stuck in a rut so I decided to try The Commando’s (Steve Willis) online training program, which was predominantly CrossFit movements and loved it. I eventually plucked up the courage to try CrossFit for real and haven’t looked back.

What is your most memorable moment to date?
Definitely my first rope climb, the world is a different place from up there!!!

What is your most and least favourite WOD or movement?
Least favourite movement would have to be Thrusters so saying Kalsu is my least favourite WOD should be no surprise. Love deadlifts.

What tip would you give someone just starting in CrossFit?
Don’t compare yourself to others, we are all on a different journey.
Be consistent, patient, use the scaling options, listen and trust your coaches.

What else would I do at 5:30 each morning??? I love the community at Niche!

What is one random, non-CrossFit ‘thing’ about yourself?
I’m an Essex girl!!!
