Our Athlete of the Month for July is… AARON!!! Aaron started playing around at Niche in the early days of our gymNASTY classes (being the natural gymnast he is) and got hooked into CrossFit from then. Why has he earned our prestigious AOTM title?? Well, he obviously has good taste in women… he is a positive man-boy to have around… is very respectful of his coaches and puts in the extra mileage when it comes to all that accessory fluff i.e. MOBILITY!! So in a nutshell, we think he’s cool. However, we do have one point of contention; whilst armpit onions are frowned upon, the half can of pre-workout Linx that Aaron administers per armpit must be taken away from the member/coach inhalation zone. Let’s learn a little more about our Athlete of the Month for July.

Why did you start CrossFit?
I heard CrossFit girls were hot.

What is your most memorable moment to date?
Would definitely be my first competition (3 vs. 3, intermediate). Had been CrossFit-ting for about a month and was asked if I could fill in 1 week before, safe to say I was absolutely shitting myself. We ended up finishing 45th (out of 48 I think) but I was hooked.

What is your mostand least favourite WOD or movement?
Currently, DT and DT.

What tip would you give someone just starting in CrossFit?
That mobility, not to be mistaken with flexibility, is the most important aspect of Crossfit as a beginner, even more so than strength. Gain the ability to complete each movement correctly and efficiently before you start adding weight.Even now if I had to choose between being stronger or more mobile I’d still probably pick the latter.

What is one random, non-CrossFit ‘thing’ about yourself?
