SCORPION! Congratulations to the main man himself. Part of the Niche family for over 3 years now, Bryan has continued to take his training from strength to strength. He rarely misses a Comp Squad session or Niche Event WOD, frequents the weightlifting dance floor regularly and is almost always the first to turn up for Open Gym on a weekday. In the better part of the last 12 months, our most avid cricketer has done an amazing job nursing and rehabbing his shoulder back to health after some corrective surgery. Once that was just about healed up and back in action, Bryan broke his finger (quite tremendously) playing one of his final games of cricket before retiring from the sport after 15 years!
Going forward, (sans cricket), Bryan is focusing his energy into competitive CrossFit after catching the bug at his first competition at last months local 3 vs. 3 Competition… the sky’s the limit, Bryan!
Why did you start CrossFit?
I was looking for a change up with my training routine.Pretty much I was bench press and part time cardio at a leisure center globo gym dude
What is your most memorable moment to date?
The stand out would have to be seeing the improvement of the collective group. After having a time away from Niche due to shoulder surgery It was just gob smacking to see how much I had missed .
What is your most and least favourite WOD or movement?
Most: Double Unders. Least: Thrusters
What tip would you give someone just starting in CrossFit?
Be prepared to speak a new language: WOD, Snatch, Jerk it, Clean it, Push jerk it… my god! Oh and leave your ego at home!!
What keeps you coming back to CrossFit?
I love the challenge CrossFit brings and the fact that every WOD has scaled option for when my skill level hasn’t been up to RX movements.
I have always been encouraged to push myself when learning new movements and supported throughout my extensive rehabilitation periods.
What is one random, non-CrossFit ‘thing’ about yourself?
Owner of a Construction company started in 1992
Recently moved in with my life partner Jackie Searies and have two gorgeous Grand Daughters nearby.
Recently Retired from Cricket after 15 years service with Thornlie CC.
